'How To' Tutorial - Female Torso by blacky91 'How To' Tutorial - Female Torso by blacky91
Alright so this is a tutorial on female torso's. I'll be doing one for male's as well which will probably upload tomorrow or the next day. Sorry about rambling a bit towards the end, but I really had no idea what to say anymore, all my points were made and I didn't want to leave something blank.

Thank you so much for this.... from an absolute beginner... Just got sketchbook. I am in my sixties and did take art in university but have done nothing with it. I am now retired and want to make my ipad art a hobby.

The stomach doesn't normally have those lines unless they're almost too skinny, due to the natural bit of fat that's almost always present covering them. Even when they are there, they're much softer and less defined than what one would think. You also can't really turn your back as far as that one pose without causing a lot of pain /knows from experience orz"

However, the tutorial was very well done! C: Very easy to follow, and to the point! Keep up the good work ^^

I don't know about the later point, I can twist myself a lot lol, but I thin I should have made the hips turn a bit more too, it does look a bit TOO turned ;)
and well that always depends on the woman too, on some you can see those lines even when they're not overly skinny :) on others you can't see them haha it's just how I draw women and it's up to everyone how they wish to draw a torso and what details they want to put in or not :) but thank you n_n

Yeah most people can't turn their spines so far without it being well, impossible, or agonizing. It also is really unbalancing XD So, it's good to crack your back with, but not to stand in.

It's always good to mix up details like that, too! As you said, some have them and some don't, so variance in characters using that detail is always a good idea! C: Though I do still think they look a little harsh when drawn with thicker lines, which throws off their appeal. However, that's just my opinion, so ^^

that is very true haha but I still do have a little trouble when it comes to bodies turning, but I'm getting there ;)

Definitely :D and well when I finalize the lines I don't usually make them so thick either, sometimes i leave them out completely and just add some gentle shading to them^^

It's a tricky thing to pull off well. I also have troubles with it XD (though that's mainly because I don't practice it much)

And that's the way to do it! /o/

it can be rather difficult depending on the pose yes :D but I practice it quite a bit so I got a little better at it haha
